Thomas Rhett married his girlfriend Lauren Gregory on Friday, October 12. The lucky lady is Lauren Gregory who has known Rhett for a long time. Thomas tells the story to Taste of Country:
“We’ve known each other since we were in the first grade..We dated once when we were 15, and it didn’t work out. We dated for like six months. We remained best friends even after we broke up. We both dated other people for like five years. When I heard that she had ended her other relationship, this was last spring, I moved in for the kill...We kissed, and that was it. We dated for probably six months, and we got engaged last December, around Christmas time.”
The picture of above is the couple about to walk the red carpet at the ACM Awards, earlier this year. The couple is currently on a honeymoon in Hawaii.
Thomas' dad Rhett Akins says one country star helped convince the young singer. Luke Bryan gave the advice. Rhett Akins says:
"Everybody told him no, this is not what he should do, except Luke. He called Luke three or four times and Luke was like, 'Buddy, if you're in love and you want to get married, then do it.' I think Luke was a huge part of Thomas Rhett going, 'Hey, I can do this.'"
