Toby Keith brought his Life in Overdrive tour to Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Charlotte on Saturday night.  The veteran country star delivered a slew of hits, both new and old.  With a load of pyrotechnics, a large band, and plenty of Toby's signature bravado, fans did not leave disappointed.

Toby brought a fiery young gun, Brantley Gilbert, along for the ride.  Gilbert is one of the most unique rising country stars we've seen in awhile.  He wears his hat low (a baseball cap, not a cowboy hat), both of his ears feature earrings, and he's influenced by rock and rap in addition to his country roots.  Gilbert has written several songs that were made famous by Jason Aldean and he delighted the crowd with those tunes and plenty of others.

Thomas Rhett was supposed to open the show, but he has Mononucleosis (Mono) and Tonsillitis.  But, there was a proper and capable subsitute available.  Thomas Rhett's father is Rhett Akins, who is known for hits like That Ain't My Truck.  Akins has spent the last several years writing songs and is actually working with Brantley Gilbert.  So, Akins stepped on stage with an acoustic guitar and no band.  He played some of his hits, some of his son's songs, and a few he wrote for other country singers.
